“Once upon a time in a land not far away,

a rainbow shone brightly every single day...”

Classic fairy tales with an LGBT touch

Retold is a new concept for an animated TV series, aimed at young children (ages 3-6), that focuses on the importance of accepting people for who they are, and presenting the LGBT+ community as a natural part of life. Retold takes classic fairy tales and gives them an LGBT+ twist – normalising the community and educating children that they belong.

Meet Nooz

Nooz is a magical creature who travels across the land of fairy tales. they can take many forms: an underwater sea-witch, a genie in a lamp, a wise wizard.

Nooz always wants to help people, spreading the message of freedom and self-love. They always encourage people to live life to the full and take pride in who they are.

Development

I have initiated the project and led the team, serving as the art director, developing the visual style and the characters, and directing the pilot episode.

Pilot Episode: The Little Merman

The little merman lived under the sea, his name was Fin, and all his life he knew he was born in the wrong body. While everyone around him treated him as a mermade, he knew he was a actually merman.

One day, Fin leaves home to find a place he belongs. Whilst struggling at first, he eventually stumbles upon a mysterious cave. Inside, he meets Nooz.

With Nooz’s spell, Fin gets his inside and outside to finally match, bringing him confidence and happiness, but will his father accept his son’s new look as well?

I absolutely LOVE rigging in DUIK, and I have created all of the rigs for the project.
